About
The practice behind AIV Index — and why you can check our working.
Last updated: May 2026
AIV Index — short for AI Visibility Index — is a subscription product from Auto Alpha Advisory (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2025/213512/07), a South African company based in Cape Town.
The practice behind it
Auto Alpha Advisory ships full website and GEO (generative-engine optimisation) audits to its retainer clients. AIV Index is the productised, ongoing-measurement layer of that same practice — the instrument the audit work already relies on, sold as a subscription.
The audit engine that powers AAA already runs the Citation Density scorer and the GPTBot server-side-rendering test that every paid audit consumes. AIV adds the cross-engine prompt sweep and time-series tracking that turn point-in-time audit findings into ongoing operational signal across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini.
Why you can trust the numbers
We believe a transparent measurement tool is more defensible than a black-box dashboard. So:
- The methodology is published. It is grounded in the Princeton GEO study (KDD 2024) and the Vercel/MERJ AI-crawler study (December 2024), and the full measurement approach is documented on our methodology page.
- The data is yours. Every raw response and source is readable in full on your dashboard, and you can take it to another consultant who is not us. We do not hold your measurement history hostage.
- The noise is handled honestly. Every prompt is sampled several times per engine per cycle with live web search; we report the aggregate, not a single response, and drift alerts only fire above a 10% month-on-month threshold.
