Why this matters now

Traditional SEO is half the story.

Buyers are asking ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini instead of typing into Google. Vercel and MERJ measured AI-search referral traffic growing 8× year-over-year in 2024-2025; for high-intent commercial queries, the four AI engines now drive 25%+ of qualified clicks in many B2B categories.

You cannot rank in an AI answer the way you rank in a SERP. There is no Search Console. There is no site:yourdomain.com query. Whether ChatGPT recommends you, your competitor, or neither when a buyer asks the question that decides their next purchase — you have no native visibility into that.

The Princeton GEO paper (Aggarwal et al., KDD 2024) shows citation rates can shift by +115% for the same site after small content changes — meaning your AI visibility is volatile by default, and silent volatility is the worst kind to manage.

How it works

The methodology is published. Each engine’s raw responses are stored against your tenant for audit. You can re-run a month if needed; you can export the data; you can take it to a consultant who is not us.

  1. You submit prompts and competitors.

    Twenty to a hundred priority prompts your buyers actually ask (we provide an industry default set) plus three to five competitor domains. Brand entity reference (Wikidata QID) where applicable.

  2. We run them across the four engines.

    Every month (or week, on Pro and Scale tiers) we issue each prompt to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini. N = 3 runs per engine to smooth stochastic variance — we report median plus variance, not raw single-shot answers.

  3. You see share-of-mention, citation context, and drift.

    A live dashboard plus a branded monthly PDF report. Drift alerts (email, Slack, Telegram) when your share-of-mention drops more than 10% month-on-month or when a competitor overtakes you in an engine. API access on the Scale tier.

What does 'AI visibility' actually mean?
When a buyer asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Gemini a high-intent question (“best audit firm in Cape Town”, “SA fintech compliance tool”), the engine answers with a small list of recommendations. AI visibility is how often your brand appears in that list, in what position, and with what citation context. We measure all three.
Why isn't traditional SEO enough?
Traditional SEO ranks you in Google’s ten blue links. AI engines don’t serve ten blue links — they synthesise an answer that names two or three brands and moves on. You can rank #1 organically and still be invisible inside ChatGPT’s answer. The Vercel/MERJ Dec 2024 study showed AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript, so a site that renders fine for Googlebot can be a blank shell to GPTBot. SEO is necessary; AI visibility is the other half.
LLM responses are stochastic. Isn't your data noisy?
Yes — raw single-shot answers are noisy. That is why every prompt runs N = 3 times per engine per cycle, and we report median plus variance, not a single response. Drift alerts only fire when the median moves by more than 10% month-on-month — stochastic flicker stays below the threshold. The methodology and the noise floor are both published.
How is this different from Otterly, Profound, Trackings.ai, Peec AI?
Three differences. (1) ZAR pricing without the international markup; Starter at R650 vs R 1.5K–6K equivalent at current FX. What engines are supported, and what about local AI products?
Launch coverage: ChatGPT (GPT-4 class), Claude (Sonnet+), Perplexity (Sonar online), Gemini (1.5 Pro). We re-evaluate quarterly and add engines that hit measurable buyer-side share — Mistral Le Chat, DeepSeek, Grok, and others are on the watch list. Local AI products (e.g. South African finance bots) are added on request for Scale tier tenants.
